Notes installation directories for Linux
Recommended and default IBM® Notes® installation and upgrade directories on a Linux™ system are as follows.

On a Linux system, default IBM Notes installation and upgrade directories are as follows:

Table 1. Installation Directories
Directory pathDescription
/opt/ibm/notesNotes product and binary files installation directory
/root/notes/dataNotes data files installation directory
/root/notes/data/workspaceNotes workspace directory
/opt/ibm/notes/frameworkNotes Java™ code installation directory
/etc/notes/dataShared data directory
/{$HOME}/notes/dataNotes data files directory for each user

The following data and workspace directories are only used during Notes install and upgrade. Notes cannot be run as the root user, so these directories are not used at runtime. The install and provisioning log files are located in this workspace directory.

Table 2. Notes Installation and Upgrade Directories
Directory pathDescription
/root/notes/dataNotes data files installation directory
/root/notes/data/workspaceNotes workspace directory
